Inspiration:
The relationship between democratic governments and internet freedom has become an important area of study in recent years. With increasing digital interconnectivity, the internet serves as the main platform for public discourse, access to information, and freedom of expression - elements essential for healthy democratic societies. This brings us to the question: are democratic countries less likely to experience network interference and censorship?
What we Learned: We learned about network censorship and elections in different countries. We learned about the different types of network censorships. We also learned about the relationship between censorship, freedom index, and election campaigns.
Built: This project was built in Python using Ooni, Freedom House, and IFES
Challenges: The data needed to be cleaned and visually formatted in an appealing way which was challenging to accomplish.
