Inspiration
We were inspired by the recent Coronavirus outbreak that has caused an epidemic around the world. So, we wanted to show people what a virus is and how it works.
What it does
Our game takes us on the journey of a virus through a blood vessel as it attacks the red blood cells as well as tries to avoid white blood cells.
How we built it
We used the Unity Engine and Visual Studio to construct a 2D sidescroller that shows the path of a virus in a blood vessel.
Challenges we ran into
During our development of the game, we ran into issues involving getting the objects to collide with each other and to effectively get them to interact the way we wanted them to. Additionally, the rigidbody components of earlier projects we attempted proved to be ineffective.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we faced constant challenges and had to go through various samples and experimentations to create a final product. However, after using several different IDEs as well as exploring different types of games, we are proud to have a final complete product.
What we learned
During this experience, we learned how to better collaborate with others as well as how to better work our way around the Unity interface
What's next for Cell Invader
For Cell Invader, we would like to add a score count in the future for the red blood cells as well as add a shop for upgrades based on viruses. Additionally, we would like to add a difficulty setting to make it more challenging for experienced players, or easier for beginners.
