Inspiration
Most self-help tools today feel like checklists. They’re functional, but they miss the emotional and psychological depth that real growth requires. Celf was born from a simple question: What if your inner voice could guide your outer progress?
I wanted to build something that made self-development feel personal, immersive, and aligned with who you are—not just what you do. Something that helps people build clarity and agency, not just track habits.
What it does
Celf is a voice-powered self-growth app. Users speak or type journal entries, and the app turns those reflections into meaningful prompts and quests. Over time, users develop traits like clarity, grit, and willpower through small, consistent actions—tracked as XP.
It’s not about productivity hacks. It’s about building a system that helps people move forward in life with more intention and less noise.
How we built it
Celf was built using Bolt during the hackathon. The tech stack includes: • Bolt for the frontend and logic • OpenAI for generative content and sentiment detection • Supabase for user auth and database management
We built a basic trait leveling system, voice-to-text input, and quest generation pipeline, all within a mobile-first design layout.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was flow. We didn’t want the experience to feel robotic or like another journaling app. We wanted it to feel alive and adaptive. Designing that flow within Bolt, while keeping the UX clean, took the most iteration.
Prompt design also became a major focus—how to turn raw thoughts into something helpful without losing nuance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
• Re-built a fully functional mobile-first MVP in under 48 hours
• Designed a clean, intuitive interface focused on emotional flow
• Created a voice-to-quest pipeline that feels personal and engaging
• Integrated XP tracking and trait growth to show meaningful progress
• Developed a concept that resonates with real human motivation—not just productivity
What we learned
• The flow of a self-reflection app needs to feel safe, simple, and emotionally aligned
• Bolt allowed for incredibly fast iterations, especially with logic and UI in the same environment
• Prompt design is just as important as product design—words shape the experience
• Building something meaningful doesn’t need a huge team—just clarity and speed
What's next for Celf:
• Launching a private beta with early users to test emotional resonance and feature engagement
• Expanding quest types to include user-defined goals and time-limited challenges
• Introducing visual avatar evolution based on trait growth
• Adding reminders, streaks, and light gamification to increase consistency
• Exploring integrations with voice-based input platforms like WhatsApp or iOS shortcuts
