Inspiration My inspiration came from my mom who loves to cook and loved to cater food as a part time job, which is something she stopped due to Covid-19 times in fear of getting exposed to the virus. This website is to help smaller businesses like hers start back while addressing safety concerns that make her and the other side purchasing the food feel more comfortable.
What it does The website allows users to search for local businesses around their area and view their story, get access to their website, and be informed about their covid-19 protocols. This would also benefit the business as they are advertising their business to their community.
How I built it We built it using javascript, html5, and css using the online tool repl.it
Challenges I ran into We ran into problems on using javascript as we were both weak in that area. Although that did not stop us from using it as we researched and discussed what possible solutions to a problem may be.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of - We are proud of getting the search bar to work as it was complicated for us to make sure the input matched the desired input to lead to a different page. We were initially researching solely to build an input box. However, as we were doing that we learned so many other skills like creating place holders in the input bar so the user knows what to type in.
What I learned-We learned more javascript skills than we came in with and learned more fancy/fun animations and techniques through exchange of ideas and research.
What's next for Celestine- We plan to make this website one that the general public can use with real businesses featured to help bring the community together during the covid-19 times.
