Inspiration

I was brought up watching Monkey when I was a kid and I love Sun Wukong’s cloud-somersaults, they painted my first dreams of magic. In 2014, I lived in Beijing for six months—great wall, forbidden city, summer palace, shaolin monks, hotpot steaming, while my best friend Jimmy Appudurai-Chua, a Chinese-Singaporean blues guitarist with fingers like lightning, proved guzheng plucks could weep like B.B. King bends. Jimmy passed in 2023.

Celestial Whispers began as eight 1 min ish - animations (Chang’e, Sun Wukong, Zhong Kui, White Snake, Nezha, Eight Immortals, Jiangshi, Nuwa) uploading to RADTV. I wanted one song to fold them into 5.35 seconds of wonder—no gatekeeping, just a paper lantern glowing for Jimmy, for the kids who watched Monkey, for anyone who’s ever felt small under the magic and vastness of the sky.

What it does

A 5.35-second animation and song:

Visuals: Eight 6 second cinematic clips stitched to bring the legends to life, triggered into a sequence.
Audio: each myth claims one heartbeat. I write the lyrics and structure, and Suno delivers the goods
Interaction: A living memorial—light it, pass it on.

How we built it

Storyboarding (1 full week): —Chang’e rises, Wukong flips—locked to Jimmy’s shuffle on a Cornish beach.

Animation ( Hailuo, OpenArt, Suno 3 weeks):

Hailuo generated base ink-wash assets; refined and changed to cinematic.

Challenges we ran into

**Davinci Resolve free version , keeps crashing , swore a lot , cant afford full version **Ghosts in the Machine, emotional loosing my best friend who convinced me to go to China - I bult this for him, if it works its because he whispered keep going through the speakers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We finished eight full episodes and a 5.35 song, uploaded to RADTV , my Sun Wukong made me weak at the knees - I love him
Hailuo + Suno + human hands and my little pocket monster Ara = seamless myth compression, no team no money, as I used the free Start and End Frames from Hailuo - literally up all week to get it right
