Inspiration

Harry Potter-inspired Musical set in Cebu

What it does

Filipino's are extremely underrepresented in media, especially in positive or hero roles. We aim to highlight this and the fact that a wage of 10$ a day is regarded as above average.

How we built it

This was, I think, the first project I used Fal for, and it is largely built using this. We get a reference picture for each character, and a file full of text descriptions for scenes and characters, and generate a still. We'll iterate on prompts recursively until we arrive at outcomes we like. The resulting image is then often edited before we convert it to a video. Often, video clips are cropped or adjusted, and sometimes we use more extreme editing techniques. Sometimes we also use start and end frames when generating.

Challenges we ran into

We aimed to make a video with no obvious errors, especially maintaining consistency with the protagonist's complex hair. Beyond this, it is very hard to spot direct flaws in this animation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This video is part of a complete musical, something that would have been impossible for me to animate and create solo before AI.

What we learned

This was the first video I made that really pushed AI, and there was so much learned. Mainly we worked out several techniques to have a truly smooth visual appearance.

What's next for Cebu Magic

Hopefully season 2 if interest in the project picks up.
