Inspiration

I've been building apps for quite a year now. My elevator pitch is about people saving 3,000 recipes and never doing them and well... that is me. As I saw the shipaton, with Eitans brief I knew it was a no brainer. Not only have I been competing against others, but also my best friend Kilian Maier, who built for Eitan as well.

What it does

The cclub app's main functionality is saving recipes via social media, screenshots, websites & cookbooks. A hub for storing and sharing your recipes, while not being distracted by hundreds of brainrot formats. Cclub brands as a ""community club app" for the desired audience.

How I built it

Built entirely with Claude Code powered by Opus 4.5 (4.6 later) — from the first line of code to the paywall integration. As I started in late January a lot of caffeine was needed to build it. The App itself is made In React Native, Expo, and Supabase.

Challenges I ran into

I started by doing all of the backend stuff which was a lot of fun to me. When it comes to frontend I was struggling with small details, like the 3d animated card or certain animations. The biggest concern was my German wifi provider, that suddenly decided to shut down Cloudflare routing.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I worked hard on designing all pages, and I am very happy with how it turned out. I think I was able to reach this club, membership or community aesthetic for a not so young audience. Having a high quality UI & UX design, to reach a good conversion rate within my audience, is the most important thing I learned across my months into b2c apps. This app is built on simplicity, while it's not looking cheap. I showed it to my parents early this morning, and they understood everything without back questioning.

What I learned

On previous apps I've always used the RevenueCat paywall editor. This app is built fully on a custom paywall, which I've never done before. The backend & scanning logic is made to be as cheap/efficient as possible to keep the margin high, after testing around a lot. My biggest learning is the progress in learning how to build with Expo & React Native, most of my apps are made in SwiftUI.

What's next for cclub - scan. cook. enjoy.

This app is made for UGC marketing. An influencer with an audience like Eitan would be a perfect fit for the start to optimize paywall, in app etc. At the same time I'd like to reach out to lots of smaller cooking influencers. Testing organic content and then going over to paid ads + increasing/testing out in app pricing.
