Inspiration
Cave Explorer was simply inspired by the platformer games I've played growing up (namely those on cool math games).
What it does
It was built for the purpose of entertainment. It allows the user to manipulate a player through screen-lengthed levels to collect diamonds and achieve victory!
How we built it
Cave Explorer was built with java using the Processing IDE. The sprites, backgrounds, and music/sounds were scavenged from the internet.
Challenges we ran into
Probably what I struggled with the most is starting something, maybe making a class in an inefficient/unconventional way, and then that causes difficulties down the line. This would result in either slow progression or having to go back to redo that chunk of code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I really like how the UI came out for the home/screen and setting.
What we learned
I learned that planning ahead is critical, especially under timed circumstances. In hindsight, I definitely should have focussed more energy on the game itself; I only got as far as making 2 levels and they're buggy in some areas.
What's next for Cave Explorer
I've already poured two days into it so I'll probably debug/add more content this coming week until it's something I can more proudly share with friends.
