Inspiration
One of my main inspirations for this project is a teammate I had on a previous Hackathon. She told me about how she interned for a local non-profit group in Sweden, and I was devastated to find out that they were not doing well financially. I then created this project to help Non-Profit organizations with outreach and allow them to focus on helping the community.
What it does
This is a simple project, which allows users to submit a Non-Profit group and location and/or search for a Non-Profit Group in their current location
How we built it
This was built using React, Bootstrap, React-Router and React-Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
I ran into many challenges during the development of this project, including time constraints and skill constraints. Due to the fact that I am a high-school student, I was finding it difficult to balance the development of this project and my academic work. This led to me no being able to put as much time into this project as I would've originally liked. This is also one of my first projects using React, so I had to learn whilst developing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I believe this project reached its overall goal of providing awareness to the issue of Non-Profit Outreach. Although the overall project wasn't made in the best way, this will still allow people to see this project and understand the issues Non-Profits are facing.
What we learned
During this project, I have made great strides in my progress with React.
What's next for CauseFinder
I don't believe that as a student, I can do this concept justice. My goal for this project was to provide awareness to an issue, and show a possible solution to that issue. It is my hope that someone more qualified can continue this project on and make serious positive impact on the world as we know it.
