The inspiration from this website comes from our personal backgrounds. The social issues included are a combination of cause we are passionate about and causes that affect us directly. Since, we have always wanted to contribute to these causes, but did not know where to start, we created a website that has all the information we could need.
This interactive website orients people on how to take action when they want to contribute to a certain social cause. In this case, we have four main causes which are: feminism, mental health, Palestine, and Plastic Pollution.
This website was built by Daniela, Fiza, and Priya. We used HTML, Javascript, and CSS programming languages. On the main page, you can see our four main causes. If you click on the name of each one, they will take you to their respectives webpages that contain more information about the topic. Some pages include buttons that lead you to petitions you can sign and other buttons show statistics about a certain issue. All of this, to make the website more interactive.
A challenge that I, Daniela, ran into was that my code deleted itself after some time because it was not saving, but thanks to Qoom employees I could get it back. A challenge Fiza ran into was getting some buttons to work, like the navigation bar and donation links, but then we found how to make them work and we corrected our code.
The accomplishment we are proud of is finishing our project in time because since we are beginners, this was a big project for us, so we are thankful we could finish it and it looks the way we want to. We are really proud of all the features we could incorporate.
There are a lot of things we learned while making this project. The main thing being that we got so much more experience on working with HTML, that we know feel more comfortable working with this language. We also learned a lot more about the causes we are so passionate about.
What is next for this project is adding more causes to the main page because that is the primary goal of this website; to have all the social causes of today's world in one place, so that it is easier for a person to choose and find the information they need.
