Inspiration
Once in my village, there was a buffalo pregnant who stopped milking after eating "Bidelu". The ranchers didn't know what to let the buffalo eat and what not to. And we got the inspiration to build a platform where farmers/ranchers can get the proper medical curation details (like vaccination time, contact with a doctor, etc).
Also, we knew about how uncertain farmers were about their income and expenditure from livestock. And we got this opportunity to tackle this problem with deltathon.
What it does
CattleCare is an all-in-one cattle management solution. It offers a range of features including insurance management, vaccination schedules, breeding management, milk production tracking, and disease management. The app helps farmers and ranchers to streamline their herd management and make informed decisions about their operations.
How we built it
We built CattleCare using a combination of technologies such as React Native for mobile app development, expressjs for the backend, and** MongoDB for the database*. Also, **Digital Ocean to host the backend API*.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was integrating all the features into a single cohesive app. We also had to ensure that the app was user-friendly and easy to navigate. Of course, we encountered numerous bugs that took a long time to solve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to create an app that is comprehensive, user-friendly, and easy to use. We believe that CattleCare will make a real difference in the lives of farmers and ranchers by simplifying the process of managing their cattle operations. Most importantly farmers will be aware of their income and expenses and the time to get vaccines (medicine) to their cattle.
What we learned
We learned to brainstorm, design, and develop a workable mobile application within a very limited time interval. Also, our coordination and collaboration skills improved a lot.
What's next for CattleCare
We plan to continue developing CattleCare and adding new features such as integrating smart devices and sensors to monitor the cattle's physical condition, and more analytics and reports. We also plan to make CattleCare available on other platforms such as the web.
