Inspiration

We wanted to make a real impact on a challenge we’ve faced throughout our careers — effective communication. It's a problem that slows teams down and creates unnecessary confusion, especially across different departments.

What it does

Our solution improves communication by creating a company-wide knowledge base that explains complex technical terms and concepts. It helps bridge the gap between teams like engineering, sales, and product — making sure everyone is on the same page.

How we built it

We developed it as a browser extension, backed by a containerized backend using RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architecture. The heavy lifting is done by the backend while the extension integrates seamlessly into the user’s workflow.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time building a browser extension, so figuring out the architecture and communication between frontend and backend was a learning curve.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

After just one day of development — it works! And more importantly, it’s actually useful. The fact that we were able to get it up and running so quickly was a huge win.

What we learned

Don’t aim for perfect — aim for useful. Good task management really makes a difference. Ship fast, improve later.

What's next for CattAIl

We’re planning to publish it across multiple browser extension stores, gather feedback, and expand its capabilities to support more use cases and languages.
