Purrfect

Inspiration

We were inspired by our friend's cats. Quarantine has been hard on many of us, mentally especially. We created this website in hopes on cheering someone up or to entertain someone. It was also to help sharpen our HTML skills too.

What it does

Our website has an interactive quiz on the home page, which asks the user how they are feeling with pop up windows with encouraging messages. There's a Contact Us form for anyone with feedback or new ideas for us. In the Cats section, there are multiple activities to do. There's a cat video section, cat gallery, cat meme generator, cat pun generator and a place to even draw your cat! Due to some unsupported browser problems, our cat meme generator and sketchpad does not run. We hope to fix that problem soon.

How we built it

We built our website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Through Discord, we closely collaborated together, splitting up the work effectively and helping each other when we can. For the designs of the website, we used Photoshop for the visuals. We aimed for a brighter look as the very existence of cats makes us happy and bright.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran to were unsupported browser issues and learning new things in a limited time period. We tried using Canvas for two activities: cat meme generator and sketchpad, but it didn't run at all since our browsers couldn't support it. One of our group members is new to HTML so it was a bit hard for them to adjust but they quickly got a hang of it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the project we made so far. It is not fully functional but we had a lot of fun coming up with the designs, coding it and just playing around with it.

What we learned

We learned how to use Canvas to create a sketchpad. We also were able to improve on our HTML skills.

What's next for Purrfect

We hope to fix the problem for the sketchpad and cat meme generator soon and maybe add in more features. People can recommend or give us new ideas if they want!
