Inspiration
Our team wanted to work with the Oculus Rift for our hack. We also wanted to created a Pitt related hack.
What it does
Cathy Crush is an on-rails shooter where the player has to keep lions from reaching the top of the Cathedral of Learning. The lions rise slowly but steadily, and a direct hit from the Panther Cannon sets a lion down several yards. Play continues until a lion reaches the top and players are scored on how many lions they hit.
How we built it
We used the Unity game engine to interface with the Oculus Rift and build our game. We also used Tinkercad to build 3D models and Audacity to build sound effects.
Challenges we ran into
Building and managing the physics in our game was challenging. We ran into several problems regarding the movement of objects and the effects of gravity on objects.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a fun game for the Oculus Rift that works very well.
What we learned
How to use the Unity Engine, how to script in C#, how to 3D model.
What's next for Cathy Crush
Further refine the game's graphics and add more features / objectives.
