Inspiration💡 Sources of Inspiration

The core inspiration for this project lies in the "universal human emotion of regret." The concept was primarily developed from the following three points:

The Materialization of Regret as a Collective Unconscious:

Drawing from Japanese folklore and works with occult elements (e.g., Jujutsu Kaisen), where negative emotions become physical threats.

This concept was merged with the psychological idea of the "collective unconscious" (Freud/Jung), leading to the setting where "countless unchosen 'what ifs' cross a critical threshold and distort the world."

Fusion of Nostalgic Scenery and Dystopia:

The beautiful depiction of light, shadow, and everyday Japanese scenery—especially sunsets and rain—seen in works by directors like Makoto Shinkai.

We sought to contrast this beautiful daily life with a dark, dystopian atmosphere where hidden decay and monstrous entities lurk, aiming to add depth to the narrative.

The Exploration of "Catharsis" (Purification):

The ancient Greek concept of "Catharsis" from tragedy theory. We wanted to express the process of soul liberation through suffering in desperate situations, using elements of action and fantasy.
