Coordinating muscles for locomotion is a surprisingly hard problem, even simple movements require precise timing across many muscle groups. The original inspiration for this project was a trained controller that coordinates over 100 muscle fibers for locomotion, but manually controlling that many fibers is impractical for a user. For this hackathon, we explored how to make muscle-driven movement interactive with minimal controls (four directional muscle groups), in a game where you play as a caterpillar collecting leaves.
