Inspiration
We decided to take this challenge on as part of our first Hackathon at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
What it does
We tried to build a web application that shows few features like asset tracking, fuel refill history that can be used by product managers to analyse what is happening with the fleets and thereby take proper business decisions.
How we built it
We started of with building individual features on python and analysing the data using pandas. Then we tried using bokeh server to deploy it as an app. When that did not work out we tried using heroku but that was giving us issues with showing the google map we had integrated in our application.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into issues and fell short of time for deploying the app to Heroku. Currently, it runs over a local bokeh server. We faced issues with the datasize. We were not able to plot all data onto the google map integration we had. We had issues making the filters and getting correct data to display on the UI.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned a lot while doing this, and came up with decent individual creations. We had some amazing ideas for future implementation but unfortunately, we fell short of time to implement them.
What we learned
We learnt about bokeh and heroku. Even though we were not able to successfully finish the project, we tried our best.
What's next for Caterpillar 2021_Challenge_Hack_my_Fleet
We shall continue working on this project even after the project deadline just because there is so much to learn from it! Thank you Caterpillar and HackIllini for this amazing opportunity.
