Inspiration
Making plans in group chats takes forever and often goes nowhere. We wanted something that turns “we should hang out” into an actual plan.
What it does
CatchUp finds when everyone is free, looks at what they like, and suggests real hangout ideas the group can agree on.
How we built it
We built an app that collects availability and interests, finds overlap, then generates ready-to-go plans.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up the LLM to generate plans that are actually relevant, handling different schedules, and keeping everything synchronized across multiple users in real time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of the app’s design and how everything comes together to give users a one-step solution that produces real plans in seconds.
What we learned
We learned how to work with LLMs, build a messy idea into a working app under time pressure, and handle the real challenges of connecting multiple people in one place. Most importantly, we saw that people don’t want more messages. They want clear options they can quickly say yes to.
What's next for CatchUp
Smarter suggestions, better calendar integration, and support for bigger groups. We also want a mobile app, in-app chat, editable plans, manual event creation, and fun gamification like friendship scores based on how often you hang out.
