Inspiration
What do games like Doodle Jump, Geometry Dash, Tiny Wings, Neko Atsume have in common? They captured the hearts of players across generations. We also were inspired by the most notable features of those games: addictive horizontal progression, fluid motion and terrains, and adorable character design accompanied with a shop to add to the experience.
What it does
Dive into the whimsical world of CatBunny's Hop Adventure. Players step into the shoes (or paws?) of CatBunny, a creature on a quest to collect carrots scattered throughout magical terrains. These aren't just ordinary carrots — they're your ticket to the in-game shop, where you can exchange them for some of CatBunny's most drippy hats and outfits. But it's not all smooth sailing, life isn't just hops and giggles. An enigmatic wizard has taken a liking to hurling fireballs (or are they spicy oranges?) at our hero. Traverse various levels, dodge these fiery obstacles, and unravel the mystery behind CatBunny's relationship with this ominous magician. Could they, against all odds, actually be friends?
How we built it
At the heart of CatBunny's Hop Adventure lies the power of Pygame, which we harnessed to bring our game to life.
Challenges we ran into
Crafting a comprehensive gaming experience posed its hurdles. Integrating multiple features like a home screen, game screen, settings, a shop screen, and even offering a Korean version became intricate tasks. Gameplay enhancements such as a scoring system based on carrot collection, fireball dodging mechanics, and the seemingly simple act of jumping on clouds proved to be complex challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the roadblocks, we triumphed in delivering a cohesive and fun experience. Our vision, although ambitious, materialized, and the game's functionality stands as a testament to our dedication.
What we learned
The journey taught us invaluable lessons in effective communication and the art of task delegation. Success, as we've come to realize, hinges on collaboration.
