inspiration
i am a curious mind, i want to learn everything but i like to learn fast and just enough. instead of going through like entire fkin internet full of texts, long tutorials and incoherent info, i would prefer a 3 minute video that teaches me exactly what i wanna learn.
what it does
imagine this as your personal tutor thats available for you 24x7. you can ask it anything from human anatomy, to visualizing graphs to learning computer science concepts, and it'll create a nice, focussed, digestible animated video for you with friendly narration.
it cuts through all that noise and give you a clear, visual answer, instantly.
use cases
- for medical students: to see complex stuff like the krebs cycle or heart anatomy animated instead of just reading dry text.
- for math students: to actually visualize a complex graph or theorem instead of getting lost in equations.
- for cs students: to see specific tutorials like how a sorting algorithm works, what a rest api does, or how websockets connect, instead of going into tutorial hell
- for teachers: to create custom videos that perfectly match what they're teaching, way better than some random youtube video.
- for content creators: to make awesome animated videos to explain things without needing to be an animation pro.
- for curious minds: for anyone who wants to learn something new, fast, by watching a video made just for their question.
story
not gonna lie, it was rough journey but i enjoyed it. i was thinking about this concept for like 2 years now. llm(s) weren't there 2 years back but with thinking models, they're step functions better now. in my imagination, i always wanted to watch & learn from videos like 3blue1brown but for any concept, hyper-personal questions/ideas. hence decided to build this.
challenges ran into
biggest challenge was
- audio video synchronization
- getting "aha" moment output
- making sure llm generated code renders
- seamless mobile user experience
accomplishments proud of
i'm insanely proud of
- user experience
- final video output
- and how fast i pulled it off (#noflex), didn't sleep for 5 days, on red bulls worked days & nights & noons & evenings & more. props to bolt.new.
what i learned
i mostly realised about how far we've come in terms of ai, ai gonna change every single thing. my whole repo is 100% ai generated, the cinematic onboarding videos on landing page and mobile app is gemini veo 2. even app logo is generated by chatGPT.
everything i did is with ai, so what i learned is, we're at tipping point in timeline and this is the best time to BUILD.
what's next for catalyst?
i want to build catalyst for next billion users. new generation of users like hyper personalised stuff. they love watching videos that are specifically designed for their use case. next generation like quick digestible specific concepts instead of long boring general texts/tutorials.
so my next thing for catalyst is:
- add custom voice feature for educators
- make final output even better
- public launch
- get at-least 1k users who absolutely love the product and cant live without it. then make sure they love it so much that they talk about it with their friends and family.
