Inspiration
Every student has a unique way of learning, but most online learning platforms follow a one-size-fits-all approach. We wanted to build an AI-powered platform that adapts to individual learning styles, provides personalized assessments, and helps students improve through intelligent recommendations and career guidance.
What it does
Catalyst is an AI-powered personalized learning platform that generates adaptive quizzes, practice questions, AI-assisted learning support, career guidance, and progress tracking. It analyzes student performance and recommends personalized learning paths to improve knowledge and skills.
How we built it
We built Catalyst using React for the frontend, Node.js and Express.js for the backend, MongoDB for data storage, and JWT for secure authentication. AI services are integrated to generate assessments, answer questions, and provide personalized learning recommendations. REST APIs connect all modules to deliver a seamless user experience.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenges were integrating AI responses with user-specific learning data, maintaining accurate progress tracking, ensuring secure authentication, and creating a smooth interaction between the frontend, backend, database, and AI services.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a complete AI-powered learning platform with personalized assessments, intelligent study assistance, career guidance, secure authentication, and real-time progress tracking, all integrated into a single application.
What we learned
This project helped us gain hands-on experience in full-stack development, REST API design, authentication, AI integration, database management, and building scalable, user-centric applications while working collaboratively as a team.
What's next for Catalyst
We plan to introduce adaptive learning paths, multilingual support, voice-based AI tutoring, real-time collaborative learning, teacher dashboards, predictive performance analytics, and mobile applications to make learning more personalized and accessible.
