Inspiration
Catalyst came to be when we read the challenge provided by Citrix, to make a productivity booster app for a team. We wanted to make it minimalistic and easy to navigate with the help of our AI Kat bot. Which we took as inspiration from the AutoNation AI Chatbot challenge.
What it does
Our product allows you to: manage your to-do's, manage your team, view your daily outlook, view any upcoming events, and manage your project updates. All with the help of our easy-to-use Kat bot.
How we built it
We built our app using the React.js framework, in combination with the react-chatbot-kit API.
Challenges we ran into
One big challenge we ran into was making the buttons for the chatbot and the responses each time the user inputs an unrecognized question or a preprogrammed task. Also, making the buttons be clickable and being able to redirect the users was a challenge that as a team we're glad we overcame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I think our biggest accomplishment was all the things we learned throughout the project. None of us knew how to use React.js, and had very little Javascript experience. Throughout the weekend, we also learned how to use Github, and version control to make sure our project was always running. With this being our first hackathon we are very proud of the project we published and all of the things we learned along the way.
What's next for Catalyst
Our next big step for Catalyst would be implementing the website, with all of its project management features. With this being a time-constricted hackathon, we did not have the time to implement all the features we would've liked. Below is a list of features we would've loved to implement.
- Redirect users from chatbot to specific task websites.
- Google Calendar for users to be able to add events etc.
- Translator features for usability around the globe!
- Implement notifications for general tasks, as well as personal tasks like sleep reminders, and water break reminders. - Give uses SMS options for notifications and ease of access, using Courier.
- Implement different color palettes depending on the time of day. Based on our research, different color palettes can affect the user's productivity. - We look to implement a calm palette, using accents of blue and green. - And an energy palette, using accents of orange and yellow. - And of course, we would implement more cat puns!
