Cat Cafe

Inspiration

The inspiration behind this project is education. Many times it can be hard for students to understand the type of learning their teachers teach, or they can't always access their teacher for help. We made this web app as a study tool that will build bridges between students to give each other a helping hand.

What it does

CatCafe's main feature is connecting students through educational needs. In exchange for tutoring someone in one subject, they can tutor you in another they excel at. Other features include: a forum, study timer, a list of linked upvoted resource videos in different subjects.

How we built it

We used figma to make the prototype and html and css to make the website.

Challenges we ran into

It was hard formatting the html at times and finding free images to use for our cat cafe theme. It was also hard coordinating our schedules to work at the same time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the UI/UX design of the website and the figma prototype. It really followed the principle of separation of concerns. The html files handled the content, the css the style. Usually, we'd mix these up in the past and although we didn't get to the JavaScript part of the project, we're sure we would have had it handle behavior of the site only.

What we learned

We improved our knowledge of html, css, and figma. We also learned the importance of coordinating schedules and time management as we have jobs/studies going on at this time. We also learned about locating and using free images/content instead of just using random ones and risking copyright.

What's next for Cat Cafe

We plan to add to the "My studies" tab and a login/create account feature. The my studies is meant for users to add their classes or subjects they're currently learning as part of their "plan" so they can receive recommended resource videos and tutors as well as keep track of their study times for goal setting.
