Inspiration
A lot of my friends work for banks. Fundamentally, outsiders find banks to be boring. But banks are exciting enterprises... they are unique in the sense that they make money independent on whether the economy swings one way or the other!
What it does
As a player of "Chief of Bank", you invest the bank's cash judiciously in different products (assets and liabilities) and grow the bank's assets.
How we built it
I used bolt for getting the initial template code and explored different designs and visual treatments before finally settling on one. Then, I continued to use bolt as the coding editor to code the core logic of the game and also used claude separately to debug and fix react code.
Challenges we ran into
Bolt (and for that any AI coding editor) is not great at resetting to previous point in time and taking over the context from that point in time. I extensively depended on github to store different versions of the code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I could code, explore different design variants and take live an app without having to depend on a front end engineer.
What we learned
Bolt (and for that any AI coding editor) is a great entry level software engineer who is great at churning out compilation error free code. He needs close guidance and monitoring on how the code is structured.
What's next for Chief of Bank
I have a lot of end user feedback (they find money movement difficult to comprehend and experience delayed dopamine hit) and will be working on them to iterate further.
