Inspiration

Many cannabis consumers struggle to adapt to the legal marketplace where there are many product types and strain names they don't recognize. Budtenders are a vital part of closing that knowledge gap and creating a satisfying buying experience. As more states end prohibition, dispensaries are busier than ever and need to adapt to a customer base used to doing the rest of their shopping online. This is where Cash'd comes in!

What it does

Our virtual budtender lets customers ask their cannabis questions any time from anywhere without worrying about holding up a long line or being judged for asking those truly newbie questions. No one wants to feel uncool while buying their weed!

How we built it

The original Cash'd budtender was born out of a ChatGPT tutorial from Buildspace. Cash'd was a Buildspace Nights & Weekends season 2 finalist in this form: https://cashd.up.railway.app/budtender Pretty cool and people like it but, it's missing some things.

Voiceflow allowed me to create a conversational experience for Cash'd users which I'm over the moon about. I used the Voiceflow canvas to create a conversation flow that lets users explore cannabis products with the guidance of the virtual budtender. This alone is going to 10x our user's experience!

Challenges we ran into

I ran out of time for adding a properly functioning inventory checker and for adding the chat to my live site. I will continue working on those items in the coming week.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I've been banging my head on the wall trying to learn enough Python for Langchain, etc to accomplish some of the functionality Voiceflow let me accomplish in a day and a half. That's wild to me!

What we learned

I had to rethink my approach to this product. Am I really looking for learning how to build all of this myself or is it more important to leverage tools like Voiceflow to get the experience to our users faster? I definitely want the product in front of the people ASAP so I'm glad I discovered this tool!

What's next for Cash'd -conversational budtender

Once I get inventory check working reliably, I want to whip up a mock store to be able to demo to dispensaries what this could look like on their online stores. I feel I could likely get some subscribers if I can show them this tool will increase average online cart totals and reduce wait times in the brick and mortar store. I couldn't get vf export to work. SOrry!
