Honestly, I'm not too sure what to say! I decided to submit to JoyArt, figuring nothing would happen (Might as well, no harm in submitting! I thought). I'm really honored to be chosen as a finalist with my little pixel art pieces! When I was a kid, I remember being on vacations and playing a bunch of these pixel art apps. They weren't games, per se, but more like digital coloring books that had a focus on pixel art. I was genuinely captivated by it at the time, and I continue to be in awe of incredible pixel art (of which I aspire to). Games like Stardew Valley and Celeste made me realize how incredibly beautiful pixel art could be. However, I never really knew how to really do any pixel art. I'd never really explored it in my free time, and I just simply thought it was neat. That changed this past fall when I started attending IGDA at WPI. There was a presentation about pixel art: simple tips & tricks, as well as software to use. Within a few weeks, I had downloaded some software, and was the resident rookie pixel artist for a game jam. I had no idea what I was doing (I still don't), but it was probably some of the most fun I'd had in a while. Doing silly little pixel art drawings really makes me happy, and I'm really flattered to know that you all appreciate my work!!

Thank you so much JoyArt team! Casey Costa

*Note: the itch.io link goes to a recent game jam where some of the work you see here is implemented! The link goes to "mantisstudios.itch.io" which is not my itch.io user! That is the person who created the itch.io page for our project, and the link goes directly to said project, "Slime Game." My itch.io user is cjpugs.itch.io
