Inspiration

Healthcare access can be overwhelming—long wait times, confusing doctor options, and no clear path from symptoms to solutions. We wanted to simplify that. Inspired by the idea of giving users instant, intelligent healthcare navigation, we built a smart assistant to bridge patients and providers efficiently.

What it does

SmartHealth Assistant is an AI-powered healthcare companion that allows users to:

Describe their symptoms and get matched with relevant doctors and hospitals

Book, cancel, or modify appointments in real-time

View doctor profiles, specialties, and availability to make informed decisions

Manage all their healthcare interactions from one easy-to-use platform

How we built it

Developed the app on the Salesforce platform.

Created custom objects to represent patients, doctors, appointments, and hospitals.

Established relationships between these objects for efficient data handling.

Used Salesforce Flows to automate processes like booking and updating appointments.

Wrote Apex code for advanced custom logic and backend functionality.

Integrated an AI-powered healthcare agent to analyze user symptoms and suggest suitable doctors and hospitals.

Ensured real-time interaction for booking, modifying, and canceling appointments.

Challenges we ran into

Designing accurate symptom-to-specialist mapping using natural language input

Ensuring real-time availability sync with hospital systems

Building a seamless rescheduling and cancellation system

Balancing security, privacy, and accessibility

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully built an end-to-end appointment system with intelligent doctor matching

Created a smooth and accessible interface for users with little to no tech experience

Integrated real-time updates with mock hospital APIs to simulate real-world responsiveness

What we learned

How to process user input for symptom detection and intent recognition

The importance of clean UX design in sensitive sectors like healthcare

Real-world API integration challenges with hospital data systems

Best practices for securing personal health information (PHI)

What's next for SmartHealth Assistant

Expand to include telemedicine appointment options

Integrate with electronic health record (EHR) systems for better patient history tracking

Support for multilingual symptom input and doctor communication

Add intelligent follow-up reminders and post-visit care tracking
