THE PROBLEM
Right now, 27,000 pieces of debris are hurtling around Earth at seventeen thousand mph. Most people have never heard of Kessler Syndrome, the terrifying chain reaction where one collision triggers another and another until low Earth orbit becomes completely unusable. Humanity loses access to GPS, weather forecasting, space-based internet, and any future beyond this planet. Forever.
NASA and ESA have flagged this as one of the most critical threats to modern civilization's infrastructure.
Nobody feels the urgency because nobody can see it. But CASCADE makes it visible. There is no accessible simulator that puts an everyday person inside this crisis and makes them feel the stakes. But CASCADE fills that gap.
WHAT WE BUILT
CASCADE is a 2D real-time survival game built in Godot 4. You pilot a spaceship orbiting Earth, intercepting debris before it reaches the surface. Shoot a large piece and it doesn't disappear like traditional games — it fractures into smaller fragments that scatter outward, each one now its own threat. The bigger the object, the worse the scatter. Miss enough and the cascade takes over. We built this cascade physics system from scratch so every collision feels real, because it is real.
WHY DOESN'T THIS EXIST ALREADY
Professional debris tracking tools exist but they are built for engineers and scientists, not the public. CASCADE is the first tool that makes space debris a human story instead of a technical report. No game has ever done this.
PATH TO A REAL BUSINESS
Space agencies like NASA and ESA would pay for public education campaigns built around this. Satellite insurers need risk visualization tools for clients who don't understand what they're protecting. Schools and universities need STEM platforms that actually land with students. Companies like SpaceX, OneWeb, and Amazon Kuiper need advocacy tools to push debris legislation forward. Long term, the simulation engine gets licensed directly to agencies as a training and communication tool, a B2B SaaS model with a freemium public version driving awareness at scale. This is day one of a real company.
THEME: REACH THE STARS
We can't reach the stars if we can't get off the ground. CASCADE is about protecting humanity's access to space so the next generation can still look up and go further. Solve debris, or lose space forever.
