Inspiration

Digitalize a former manual process and transform it into an automatized workflow. Scope: reduce risk associated with manual processing, get rid of paper and replace its storage with electronic archiving, implement a tracking of the cases and support the decision process.

What it does

The purpose of our solution is to identify, monitor, record and document the ‘loss cases’ within a banking backoffice, as well as to ensure the consistency and quality of data provided to all relevant persons, according to their responsibility and to comply with an internal Loss Data Collection and Classification Procedure set by the banking backoffice.

How we built it

Firstly we noted down the end-to-end process in a workflow chart, including the documentation of the whole process. We gone through the policy set by banking backoffice. Based on this documentation we developed and finetuned the whole workflow in several sprints together with experts.

Challenges we ran into

Although we were thinking that we can manage this with a smaller team, we had to change our approach and include the business experts, as being the ones who knew in detail the existing flow and its legal framework, Sometimes it was complicated to bring the experts and PEGA process experts on the same page, but we grew together as a team and managed to define together our cooperation framework and to live it..

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Using Pega Express Methodology with involvement of internal resources only, we have established a workflow in Pega which has the potential to replace and automatize the existing process in the future.

What we learned

This type of process is perfectly supported by Pega with its low code environment. On the other way, we have seen how important is to define upfront the goal -which for us was MVP (Minimum Viable Product). This made us focus on the progress, kept everyone aligned on the same page and motivated to reach it.

What's next for Cascade

We will introduce the workflow to the responsible persons in our division in order to decide if this can be considered as a promising starting point for the replacement of the existing manual process.
