Inspiration

We are a diverse team with various skill sets and different levels of experience in programming. Having 2 freshmen with negligible experience, a sophomore, and a senior student, we all wanted to choose a project to which we all could contribute. With the easy technicalities of the challenge, we freshmen had the chance to feel included, while still having to use our brains to the fullest. With the presentation being one of the complex tasks, the sophomore and the senior had a fair challenge too. At the same time, all of us could contribute to understanding the technicalities of the project as a whole.

What it does

The project (at least what we were able to make of it), tries to ease the process of home buying. Purchasing a home might seem like a common task, but it is usually characterized by complex paperwork, and dense and confusing means to complete the purchase. The website asks the potential buyer a list of relevant and easily accessible data and evaluates the data to determine if they are ready to buy a home, eliminating the slow, complex process. It also identifies the weak points and gives personalized suggestions, relevant resources, and insightful graphs which may help the user to become eligible to purchase the home in the near future.

How we built it

As mentioned earlier, the structure of the challenge made it easier for us to divide into different aspects of the complete project. After understanding the basic purpose of the challenge, we started making rough drafts. One person made the website with React, one did the CSS and the other 2 freshmen did the JS Script.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into multiple challenges. One of the biggest challenges was learning JS in 3 hours to start writing the script for the website. Other challenges ranged from difficulty storing data for the values entered in the website to messing up the UI of the website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

After all the ups and downs, even though our project was far from perfect, we could make a functioning prototype with our combined effort, and each of us was able to increase our skills by challenging ourselves.

What we learned

We learned how to work in a team, how to divide tasks efficiently, and how to work under pressure and in a specified time interval.

What's next for CasaClick

CasaClick is not even 30% of what we envisioned it could be. We still believe in our potential to make it a website with real-world application and would try to complete the website even after the hackathon has ended.
