Inspiration
Working in e-commerce has shown me how much effort goes into attracting shoppers—and how easily uncertainty can interrupt a purchase. A shopper may need help choosing a product, staying within a budget, or understanding delivery costs.
Cart Rescue AI was inspired by these moments of hesitation and the opportunity to turn them into helpful shopping conversations.
What it does
Cart Rescue AI is a proposed bilingual shopping assistant that helps shoppers explain what is holding them back and find a suitable cart.
The planned experience allows shoppers to:
- Describe their needs and budget in Arabic or English.
- Receive recommendations grounded in the store’s product catalog.
- Review a revised cart with clear pricing and shipping costs.
- Approve their selections and complete checkout through PayPal.
A merchant dashboard is planned to summarize hesitation reasons and track checkout outcomes following assistance.
How we are building it
The project is currently in development planning.
Our initial scope is a demonstration store with a small gift and fragrance catalog, an AI-powered shopping assistant, a cart interface, and PayPal Sandbox checkout.
Product prices, stock availability, shipping costs, and discount eligibility will be validated by application logic. The AI will interpret shopper needs and explain recommendations within those constraints.
Challenges we are working on
Key challenges include keeping recommendations grounded in available products, respecting budgets after shipping, and maintaining accurate cart information throughout checkout.
We also need to distinguish purchases completed after assistance from any proven improvement in conversion. Demonstrating an actual conversion uplift would require a controlled experiment.
What we have learned so far
The planning process has highlighted the importance of connecting useful AI recommendations to reliable commerce rules and a clear, shopper-approved payment flow.
What's next
Build and test the complete journey: shopper hesitation, product recommendations, cart approval, PayPal Sandbox payment, and order confirmation.
