Inspiration

Web3 provide new ways for content distribution, transparency and democracy in our lives, it is next step in digital culture and interaction between different groups of people. In other side this technology is new and complicated for new users and makes it difficult to use.

The inspiration behind Caring DAO stems from the observation of monopoly rules and decisions in popular applications like YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter. These platforms often prioritize certain individuals or content and take decisions for their benefit, leading to a lack of transparency and fairness. We recognized the need to challenge this centralized model and create an environment that rewards individuals based on their real value and contributions.

What it does

CaringDAO is a platform that empowers creators within the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) ecosystem. It provides a gamified approach to appreciate and support the work of creators, while also fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

At its core, CaringDAO allows creators to share their works, which can encompass a wide range of content such as text, blogs, and valuable information that serves a purpose to the public. These works can be contributed to by other members of the community, who appreciate the creator's efforts by making financial contributions.

The platform operates on a unique leveling-up system, which incentivizes creators to continue sharing their work and contributing to the community. Each creator starts at Level 1, with a maximum contribution limit set at 1 USD. However, as creators make withdrawals, the maximum appreciation limit increases by 10%. Moreover, 10% of the withdrawal amount is transferred to the creator's contributions balance, further incentivizing and supporting their ongoing efforts.

Upon reaching the required governance level, users are rewarded with a unique CaringPower NFT that serves as a testament to their work and credibility within the protocol, providing a valuable asset that can be proudly showcased in their portfolios.

By combining decentralized principles, gamification, and incentivization, Caring DAO aims to empower individuals, reward real value, and foster a vibrant and inclusive Web3 ecosystem.

How we built it

CaringDAO leverages various technologies to ensure the seamless functioning of the platform.

It utilizes Chainlink automation to manage proposal states, such as queuing and execution, within the DAO. This automation helps streamline the decision-making process and ensures efficient governance.

To maintain transparency and fairness, Chainlink's price feed data is integrated into CaringDAO. It is utilized for critical operations, such as calculating the maximum withdrawal threshold in USD, which is then converted to the corresponding amount of Ethereum (ETH). This real-time ETH/USD price conversion mechanism ensures accurate and up-to-date financial information.

CaringDAO also incorporates the use of NFT storage solutions, utilizes nft.storage for minting NFTs and web3.storage to securely save the images associated with these NFTs in IPFS and Filecoin.

The tech stack employed in building CaringDAO includes Vite for fast and efficient blockchain interactions, Wagmi hooks and Tailwind CSS for designing an aesthetic and user-friendly interface.

To test the platform's functionalities, the Sepolia testnet is utilized.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Initial hurdles in integrating the DAO structure and implementing secure voting mechanisms.
  2. Navigating the learning curve of Chainlink's automation capabilities for proposal states.
  3. Ensuring accurate and secure real-time conversion of USD to ETH using Chainlink price feeds.
  4. Addressing challenges related to NFT and image storage to ensure data persistence and availability.
  5. Developing solutions to handle dynamic aspects of smart contracts effectively.
  6. Implementing measures to prevent abuse and multi-accounting, such as like proof of personhood.
  7. Tech Stack for Contract Interaction: Selecting an optimal tech stack for efficient interaction with smart contracts, ended with including Vite, Wagmi, Viem, and Tailwind CSS.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Inclusive Participation: CaringDAO successfully brought people into the Web3 space by creating an accessible platform where anyone with at least $10 can participate, fostering knowledge and hands-on experience.
  2. Regular Incentives: The platform incentivized and appreciated creators by regularly providing them with acknowledgments and financial contributions from other creators and funders within the community.
  3. Verifiable Digital Tokens: CaringDAO provided creators with CaringPower tokens, tangible and valuable digital tokens that showcased their work and built their credibility, boosting their confidence and recognition.
  4. Automated DAO Voting: CaringDAO successfully implemented automated DAO voting using Chainlink's time-based automation, streamlining decision-making processes within the community.
  5. Aesthetic User Interface: The team designed an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly interface, ensuring ease of access to contract functions and a seamless user experience.
  6. Real-Time ETH/USD Conversion: The integration of Chainlink's price feed data enabled real-time conversion between ETH and USD, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial information for users.

What we learned

We learned a lot while building CaringDAO. We gained hands-on experience in developing a decentralized application (DApp) and understanding the potential of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). We mastered the integration of DAO structures and secure voting mechanisms. Chainlink's automation capabilities helped us streamline processes within the DAO. Learnt to use nft storage and web3 storage to bring persistence to data uploaded in decentralized world. We overcame challenges related to dynamic smart contract handling and implemented measures to prevent abuse. We also selected a tech stack that made smart contract interaction and user interface design easier. Overall, our journey with CaringDAO expanded our knowledge in DApp development, DAO governance, and supporting creators in the digital space.
