Our Journey

CargoGuardian was born out of a shared recognition of the challenges faced by supply chain and logistics companies worldwide. Freight shipping, an essential component of global trade, has grappled with inefficiencies and substantial financial losses caused by shipment damages. Beyond the financial toll, these losses tarnish reputations, erode customer satisfaction, and have detrimental environmental consequences. We saw an opportunity to leverage technology and innovation to address these pressing issues to optimize freight shipping operations, reduce risks, and ultimately enhance the industry.

Crafting the Algorithm

Our journey commenced with the development of a sophisticated risk assessment algorithm. Drawing on our collective expertise in data analysis, logistics, and app development, we designed an algorithm capable of processing diverse data inputs. It factored in variables such as shipment content, route details, and real-time weather conditions. This robust algorithm enabled us to accurately calculate and predict potential risks, empowering users to make informed decisions.

App Development with React Native

With our algorithm in place, we embarked on the app development phase, using React Native to create an intuitive and user-friendly mobile application. This app would serve as the gateway for logistics professionals to access our AI-powered risk assessment and optimization tool. Leveraging the power of React Native, we ensured cross-platform compatibility, making our app accessible to a broad audience.

Seamless Backend Integration

Behind the sleek user interface of our app lies a powerful Spring Boot backend. We meticulously configured RESTful API endpoints to facilitate seamless communication between the app and the backend. This integration allowed for real-time data exchange, ensuring that users could receive instant risk assessments and make informed decisions.

Teamwork and Challenges

Our journey was not without its challenges. We encountered complex technical hurdles and navigated the intricacies of cross-platform app development. In our journey, we aimed to showcase route variables on our app's front page to aid quick decision-making for logistics professionals. However, given our limited time and resources, and the complexities involved, we had to make some tough choices.

We prioritized critical route variables to ensure our app’s performance and user experience. This move reinforced the idea that sometimes, "Less is more." While this decision posed challenges, it emphasized adaptability and focusing on core functionalities.

It was our unwavering commitment to our shared vision that kept us pushing forward. As a team, we leveraged each member's unique skills, experiences, and perspectives to overcome obstacles and create a powerful solution.
