🌟 Inspiration
Millions of people with disabilities still face major barriers to accessing basic health support, especially in underserved regions. We wanted to create a tool that not only gives accessible, AI-powered health advice, but also brings hope, simplicity, and support into people’s lives — regardless of their background, literacy level, or physical limitations.
From the start, we asked ourselves: What if someone could just speak and get medical help, learn about health naturally, and even cheer up while they wait? That led to CareWise AI.
🧠 What it does
CareWise AI is an AI-driven, accessibility-first healthcare assistant that includes:
- 🩺 Ask Doctor AI – Speak or type any health question and get voice + text answers
- 📄 Health Forms – Symptom reporting and personalized quizzes
- 🌞 Sunshine Hero Games – Fun games to ease anxiety and distract from pain
- 📚 Natural Health Awareness – Learn about using sunlight, plants, and routines for better health
- 💊 Medication Info – Ask about common drugs and hear results aloud
- 📍 Location Support – Detect user’s city and list nearby hospitals
- 🔐 CareChain Vault (Blockchain) – Store health data securely using Algorand TestNet
- ⚙️ Accessibility Settings – Dark mode, high contrast, voice controls for users with visual impairments
All voice features are optimized to speak a maximum of twice for each message — unless the user chooses otherwise.
🛠️ How we built it
- Bolt.new – Rapid AI app development without traditional coding
- Algorand TestNet – Blockchain ledger for verifiable health records
- Netlify – For easy deployment
- GitHub – For version control and collaboration
Supabase – Used as a scalable database to manage user forms, quiz answers, and voice preferences
We structured the app with pages for each function, and ensured full keyboard navigation and speech output to improve accessibility for users with disabilities.
🧗 Challenges we ran into
- Getting voice features to work without overwhelming users (especially those with visual impairments)
- Balancing design for both mobile and desktop users
- Making the chat readable for low-vision users (e.g., white text invisibility fixed)
- Voice AI sometimes needed fine-tuning to avoid repeating too often
- Quiz logic and conditional feedback took trial and error to make intuitive
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Created a fully functional voice-first health assistant with accessibility as the priority
- Integrated blockchain (Algorand) for a real use case: verifiable, user-owned health records
- Designed two health-themed games for mental relief and engagement
- Built something meaningful and inclusive from idea to completion within a hackathon timeframe
📚 What we learned
- How to rapidly prototype with Bolt.new, using AI as a development assistant
- The power of voice interfaces for disabled users, especially blind and visually impaired
- How to integrate Algorand blockchain meaningfully without overcomplicating UX
- That accessibility is not just a feature — it's a foundation
🔮 What's next for CareWise AI
We’re excited to continue building this out with new features:
- 📺 Video AI support so users can interact face-to-face with an AI assistant
- 👩⚕️ Option to talk to a real human in emergencies
- 🧠 Add a "Learn Real Health Tips" section in Sunshine Hero
- 🔘 Custom voice settings so users can choose repetition or silence
- 🔄 Hide/show side panel for better focus with hamburger menu
- 🌍 Support for more local languages and offline-first mode
- ✅ Full medical record export/download for real-world application
CareWise AI is just beginning. We’re building not just an app — but a bridge to accessible healthcare for everyone.
