Inspiration:
The inspiration for CareSync AI came from a persistent gap in modern healthcare: what happens after a patient leaves the hospital. Despite successful treatments, many patients fail to follow post-care instructions due to poor follow-up systems, lack of reminders, and limited access to continuous medical guidance. This leads to avoidable complications, hospital readmissions, and increased healthcare costs. We were motivated to build a solution that extends care beyond hospital walls using AI, ensuring patients remain supported throughout their recovery journey while giving healthcare providers actionable insights.
What It Does:
CareSync AI is an AI-powered patient follow-up and care continuity platform for hospitals, clinics, and health insurance providers. It automates post-treatment follow-ups, sends personalized reminders for medication and appointments, tracks patient-reported symptoms, and flags early health risks. Healthcare providers and insurers access a centralized dashboard that delivers insights into patient adherence, recovery progress, and risk trends, enabling proactive intervention and better outcomes.
How We Built It:
We built CareSync AI as a full-stack B2B SaaS platform using Next.js for the frontend and Node.js with Express for the backend. Supabase was used for secure data storage, authentication, and role-based access control. For intelligence and automation, we integrated OpenAI and Vertex AI to power patient messaging, symptom analysis, and risk detection. The system was designed with modular APIs to allow easy integration with hospital systems and insurance platforms, while prioritizing security, scalability, and compliance.
Challenges We Ran Into:
One of the main challenges was designing an AI workflow that balances automation with clinical responsibility. Healthcare demands high accuracy and trust, so we carefully structured AI outputs to support—not replace—medical professionals. Another challenge was aligning the platform to serve both hospitals and insurance providers while maintaining simplicity. Ensuring data privacy and compliance while building quickly under hackathon constraints also required deliberate architectural decisions.

We are proud of building a functional, end-to-end AI-powered healthcare solution within a limited timeframe. The platform demonstrates real-world applicability by addressing a critical healthcare problem with measurable impact. We successfully designed a scalable B2B SaaS model, implemented AI-driven follow-up workflows, and created a system that benefits patients, providers, and insurers simultaneously. Most importantly, CareSync AI shows how AI can be applied responsibly to improve healthcare outcomes.
What We Learned:
Through building CareSync AI, we learned the importance of designing AI systems that are human-centered, especially in healthcare. We gained deeper insights into post-treatment care challenges, healthcare workflows, and the complexity of building compliant, secure systems. The project reinforced the value of clear problem definition, stakeholder-focused design, and thoughtful AI integration. It also highlighted how impactful solutions can be built rapidly when technology is aligned with real human needs
