Inspiration

Student families that already have children find hard time to find affordable daycare or nanny. Me and husband we were both doing our masters degree and at that time our daughter was only 3 years old. We had a difficult times when we needed both to prepare for exams and look after our daughter. It will be very great if we had a family with children and sometimes could take our child for care and in return we could take care for their children when we have free time. It will be also a better option than hiring a nanny. Since a nanny, probably won't bring other children to play with your child and possibly your child will spend most of the evening watching iPad.

What it does

A student from a certain university can register in the application. After a successful registration, the user will see a homepage and all other users that are registered. The user will be able to see the image of other parent, name, number of children, contact information, whether he/she is open to accept care or not, and whether she/he is looking for care for their children.

How we built it

We have two members in our team. We separated the project to front end and back end. We used React, MongoDB, CSS, HTML, Javascript, flexbox, bootstrap, google fonts, github

Challenges we ran into

We almost got our front end code lost at 2 or 4 am (Don't remember time) as we were merging files on a github. We tried to add a map to our application but it took us too much time than expected and we decided not to resume. In addition, we were trying to create more pages than we physically can within 24 hours. And therefore, some bugs are there.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That our design looks nice and we receiving and sending data. And actually build something together. And spend 24 hours coding.

What we learned

Merging files on github. Teamwork skills. Better design skills.

What's next for CareShare

Later on, map and chat can be added to the web app. This will help to find families that are closest to you and chat will make it easier to communicate. It could also be applied to families that are not students. However, in this case a better validation check on parents will be required.
