Inspiration

We found inspiration from one of our group member's personal stories of how her aunt used to take daily hand written notes for her grandfather's trips to the hospital and then compile them into a more shortened and condensed version to give to the doctor. In order to make the process easier for people who have chronic diseases, we decided to create CarePulse.

What it does

If you live with a chronic illness, you manage symptoms, medications, and appointments every day. Suddenly, you’re asked to remember it all in a fifteen-minute doctor visit. We built CarePulse to fix that. It’s a chronic care and daily health tracker that turns everyday check-ins into long-term insight.

How we built it

We started off the process by prompting AI agents to help build an interface and design a platform in a user friendly way. Then, for the database, we used Firebase to store and collect information that's inputted into the website by users. As our last step, we implemented an AI chatbot that helps give insight on any patient data.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges that we ran into while building the project was connecting the Firebase to our application. During this process, we had to figure out how to set up the connection and make sure our application could communicate with the database. This took some troubleshooting because we needed to ensure that data could be stored and retrieved correctly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of the accomplishments that we're proud of is getting the doctor side of the website to work as we ran into many challenges with adding different tabs to the website. Every time we made a change to the doctor side, it would make a change in the patient side as well since the interfaces were linked. However, after many cycles of trial and error, we were able to successfully find a work around to the issue.

What we learned

Through the whole building process, we were able to gain many skills such as utilizing Firebase as well as the design process of taking a problem and building a solution for it that has a positive impact on our community.

What's next for CarePulse

As our next step for CarePulse, we plan to bring our website to a larger audience by building an app version that will be available on all device types. We also plan to incorporate push notifications to notify our users about any appointments, medications, or notes and will provide offline access by storing the user's data locally and syncing it to the app.
