Inspiration
As busy students we want to get up and running as quickly as possible. One thing that we always have to keep track of daily is our medication, and we wanted something else to take care of that problem.
What it does
This mobile apps main function is to help people with their prescribed medication. The most powerful tool in this app is the ability to just scan an image of your prescription label and automatically get the information you need out of it. This data is automatically set to start reminding you based on the frequency described in the label and will tell you how long you have left with the medicine before you are done with it or have to refill it.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
We mainly ran into the challenge of finding a viable idea that could be implemented by an app which was unique to any other product on the market today. We ran into many niche ideas that would be hard to implement in the 30 hour time frame or the ideas were too general and most likely already made by someone else.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the accumulation of knowledge we made in the 30 hour timeframe, as we were not used to React at all and took a considerable amount of time to learn. We were able to implement features such as a camera could go from image to text, used APIs, and other features of React.
What we learned
We learned how important it was to manage time and how important focus was during the project. Time management was crucial as there were things in the project that overlooked based on the time crunch imposed on us. Also we learned how important sleep was as it became harder to work through the night.
What's next for CareMate or PillPal or etc.
What's next for CareMate/PillPal would be to create a profile feature for nurses/patients that could keep notes based on the nurses visits.
