As technology advances, apps have become more designed for the younger generations despite the current "Aging World" state. care-it is unique in focusing on creating a pleasurable UI experience for those with visibility and mobility issues, who additionally, need to take regular medication. With Google Cloud's Vision API, the app extracts crucial medication information, displays it largely, and allows the user to connect with his/her family. Whenever the user has not checked off medication, this feature sends SMS messages to loved ones as an extra reminder, in addition to the notifications that pop up timely before and after the user checks off pills. care-it cares!

I worked on the back-end framework and navigation of the app. I used Google's Firebase real-time database as well as Firebase Authentication to keep the information of each user secure by using their unique user ID to store the data in the database. I also set up the back-end push notification service using Firebase Cloud Functions and Firebase Cloud Messaging so that a user gets notified before they take their pills and after that time if they haven't.

I worked on implementing Google Cloud's Vision API (OCR) to extract key words from a camera view when pointing it at a pill bottle. If the user did not choose to use that feature, I created a manual option to receive user typed inputs and a drop down for time of day and other information that would be found on the bottle. Also contributed to most of the front end work with the various activities and buttons as well as integrating a time feature to send SMS messages to specified numbers if, after some time, something is not pressed.

I worked mainly on UI/UX, designing an experience with an elderly audience in mind. I created an intuitive interface following guidelines and design principles to accommodate for older adults using Figma and also worked on implementing those design choices in Android Studio.
