Inspiration

As of 2018 statistics report, around 30.3 million U.S. adults were diagnosed with heart disease. And this is the leading cause of death in whole world. Heart disease causes 1 out of every 4 deaths. Researchers have shown that regularly monitoring heart rate checking heartbeats are main concern for healthcare. It is experimentally proven that most of the heart diseases can be diagnosed, prevented and controlled by regularly monitoring Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG). Therefore, ECG plays major role in controlling and preventing cardiovascular diseases. The cost of an ECG ranges from $76 to $240. And for the ECG test patient has to visit the hospital. In such COVID situation, it is very risky to go to the hospital regularly and current alternative solutions for remote ECG monitoring using smart devices like i-watch are so much costly. Thus patients in rural areas and from middle class families can't afford it. Our goal is to develop an affordable end-to-end ECG monitoring solution. In it, we can not only record patient history but we can also make it secure and accessible to them and their doctors in a single user interface (UI).

In order to support these programs, CareHeart offers users and their doctors a way to reward them for sharing their heart health also. We reward users for sharing their heart health recordings anonymously and securely within their medical network using blockchain technology.

What it does

We team CareHeart has come up with an innovative solution for monitoring ECG. We are developing a user friendly mobile application along with a smart watch at lower cost but with high accuracy and precision. The smart watch generate ECG report and transfer it to the application via bluetooth or wifi. The app will generate clinical report on the basis of ECG, age of patient, symptoms and past or current medical conditions. This report can be downloaded or sent to the physician for further analysis.

User's can also “mint” their ECG data to earn an exclusive non-fungible token named Heart NFT. If they so choose, this digital token and the encrypted data it represents can be held or “burned” for future discounts on healthcare services or insurance premiums. In our app, we show a simulation/demo of our software reading the signals of an ECG that user shares and "minting" this data into a non-fungible token or NFT.

As this data contains the heart rate/ECG data of an individual more specifically, we will capture 640 images for each NFT, acting as a "proof of health" creating an exclusive token/point system that we can either use to ensure adherence of patients for doctors

How we built it

-HTML/React -Built on the Zilliqa blockchain (Scilla smart contract) -Uses IPFS (nft-stroage) to store and mint user Heart NFTs

Challenges we ran into

Iterating ideas and having to make changes to the app on the fly

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a front-end user experience and blockchain contract

What we learned

A lot about blockchain and heart health!

What's next for CareHeart

The main aim of our idea is providing medical services at lower cost and along with ECG the device will be updated to monitor other heart related diseases, BP, diabetes. Besides the exercise the app will also suggest treatment and medications for particular problem
