Inspiration
Our inspiration is the fact that 2 of the team members both have had grandparents that suffered unnecessarily because of the way caretaking is currently done in caregiving facilities. Most of these establishments are not doing a good enough job leveraging advances in wearable and AI technology to actively monitor patient's health. We wanted to have a future where conditions like strokes and falls are much less common in the elderly community.
What it does
Our application monitors risk factors for stroke and falls to empower patients and caregivers take action to prevent them or be alerted when they're occurring.
How we built it
We wrote code in Javascript, CSS and HTML. We also integrated different AI tools in our workflow such as ChatGPT, Codex and Claude.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was time, because there is so much we wanted to do and we didn't have much time to do it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really proud of the application we built and think it will be used in the future to save lives.
What we learned
We learned about some better ways to integrate AI use in our workflow and how best to delegate work to meet strict deadlines.
What's next for CareGuard
We want to continue iterating on our application and potentially broaden for use with conditions/incidents other than strokes and falls.
