The inspiration for Futrystic is the uncertainty many of us feel when we try to design our futures. Career planning tools either tend to be too rigid, forcing users into quizzes that result in too generic outcomes, or too overwhelming, showering them with an unnecessary flood of options. We intend to bring forth something more natural, visual, and personal. With Futrystic, your career unfolds before you like a living tree: every choice becomes a new branch, and your future grows step by step in front of you.

While creating Futrystic, we explored ways to combine AI with interactive design. The initiation of the system clusters the information directly from a resume. It builds a node graph which visually organizes your skills, experiences, and interests. From here, the tree dynamically expands, generating tailored career suggestions via structured options and open-ended input. Each node connects to contextual resources, courses, articles, or videos, which appear progressively to guide without overwhelming.

We also created a globe feature that enables users to click on a geographic location and instantly receive job recommendations from that area. This brings about the global dimension in career exploration, making it useful not just for students and career changers but also for professionals looking into opportunities abroad or across industries.

The development raised questions and challenges regarding the balance between flexibility and clarity for all designs. Making an animated tree grow smoothly yet remain readable was another difficult task, as was the construction of the resource panel as it required careful consideration to prevent information overload. Indeed, including resume parsing in the graph visualization pushed us to think deeply about how to display this complex information in a way that seems intuitive. Fine-tuning AI suggestions so that they are particularized and actionable instead of generalized was another large challenge.

Through it all, we have learned how to fuse technical innovation with user-centered design. Futrystic taught us progressive disclosure to guide users, a visual metaphor in reducing the complexity, and giving agency to the user in controlling their exploration but still having meaningful guidance along the way.

Going forward, Futrystic will continue to grow into a platform that not only produces tailored career paths but also links users to mentors, connects to both LinkedIn and university career services, and gamifies exploration to turn planning for the future into something inspiring instead of intimidating.

Futrystic stands at the very center of all uncertainties, transforming them into opportunities. In fact, the combination of all-in-all AI-driven suggestions, resume clustering, global offer search, along with an interactive growth metaphor, enables users to see the future not as a fixed test result but as a living tree that is waiting to branch out.
