CareerPrep AI was built to solve a real problem: many talented students and job seekers fail interviews due to lack of realistic practice. Most preparation resources are passive — videos, blogs, or static question lists. We wanted to create something interactive, personalized, and practical.

Our mission is simple: turn interview anxiety into structured preparation and measurable improvement.

Inspiration

We observed that interview success often depends on communication, structure, and confidence — not just technical knowledge. Professional interview coaching is expensive and inaccessible to many students, which motivated us to build an AI-powered mock interview platform.

How We Built It

CareerPrep AI is a web-based platform powered by Google AI Studio using the Gemini model, and deployed using Google Cloud infrastructure.

We used Gemini to:

Generate dynamic, role-specific interview questions
Simulate realistic follow-up questions
Analyze user responses
Provide structured, actionable feedback

Through careful prompt engineering, we instructed Gemini to behave like a professional recruiter. Instead of producing generic comments, the system evaluates answers based on structured criteria such as relevance, clarity, and organization.

On the infrastructure side, we used Google Cloud to host and scale the application, ensuring reliability, performance, and secure API integration. Cloud services allowed us to manage backend logic, handle user sessions, and maintain fast response times for a smooth interview experience.

What We Learned & Challenges

We learned how powerful Gemini becomes when guided with precise prompts and structured instructions. One major challenge was preventing vague feedback. Early outputs were too general, so we refined prompts to enforce detailed evaluation and actionable improvement suggestions.

Another challenge was optimizing latency to maintain a realistic interview flow while keeping the system scalable on Google Cloud.

Outcome

CareerPrep AI transforms passive preparation into active AI simulation. By leveraging Gemini and Google Cloud, we created a scalable, accessible interview coaching tool designed to help users land their dream jobs. 🚀
