What it does

Inspiration

Choosing a career is not a one-time decision. Students constantly need to improve their skills, build projects, prepare resumes, and practice interviews. However, these activities are often disconnected, and students struggle to understand what to learn next or how to prepare for their desired roles.

We created CareerPilot AI to solve this problem by bringing the entire career development journey into one intelligent platform. Our vision is to build a personal AI career companion that understands an individual's goals, remembers their progress, and provides guidance tailored to their needs.

What It Does

CareerPilot AI is an AI-powered career intelligence platform designed to help students and professionals navigate their career journeys.

Its key features include:

  • Career Twin: Creates a personalized career profile based on a user's goals, skills, experience, and interests.
  • Resume Lab: Analyzes resumes, identifies strengths and skill gaps, and provides actionable improvement suggestions.
  • Personalized Roadmap: Builds structured learning roadmaps with milestones and tasks based on the user's target career.
  • Interview Coach: Helps users practice interviews, improve their answers, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Opportunities: Provides a dedicated space for discovering relevant career and learning opportunities.
  • Career Dashboard: Brings career progress, resume scores, completed tasks, and interview practice activity together in one place.

How We Built It

We built CareerPilot AI using a modern full-stack architecture.

  • Frontend: Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Backend: Python and FastAPI.
  • AI Infrastructure: Nebius Token Factory.
  • AI Model: NVIDIA Nemotron open models.
  • Database: SQLite for local development, with a path toward PostgreSQL deployment.

The architecture separates the user interface, backend services, and AI inference layer. This allows career-related tasks such as resume analysis, roadmap generation, and interview feedback to be handled through dedicated backend workflows.

Our goal is to use NVIDIA Nemotron through Nebius Token Factory for intelligent, context-aware career assistance while keeping API credentials securely on the backend.

Challenges We Faced

One of our biggest challenges was designing a platform that could connect multiple career workflows rather than functioning as another generic chatbot.

We also had to consider how to maintain useful career context across different features, structure AI-generated responses, handle resume documents, and design a dashboard that presents complex information in a simple way.

Integrating an external AI inference service while maintaining a clean separation between the frontend and backend was another important engineering challenge.

What We Learned

Building CareerPilot AI helped us understand how to design full-stack AI applications, connect frontend interfaces with backend APIs, work with model inference infrastructure, and structure AI-powered workflows.

We also learned that a useful personal AI system needs more than intelligent responses. It needs context, continuity, personalization, and a clear understanding of the user's long-term goals.

What's Next

We aim to evolve CareerPilot AI into a persistent personal career companion that continuously adapts to a user's progress, skills, interests, and changing career goals.

Our long-term vision is simple: one AI companion that helps you understand where you are, where you want to go, and exactly how to get there.
