Inspiration
75% of resumes get rejected by ATS robots before a human ever sees them. As a job seeker in Kenya, I saw friends spending hours tailoring CVs with no results. I built CareerPilot to fix that.
What it does
CareerPilot AI uses Gemini to help job seekers beat ATS filters in 4 steps:
- Paste Job Description → Gemini extracts the top keywords
- Upload your CV → AI rewrites it to match those keywords
- Get ATS Match Score % → See how likely you are to pass
- Export to PDF → Download your optimized CV instantly
How I built it
- Frontend: HTML, CSS, Vanilla JavaScript
- PDF Export: jsPDF
- AI: Google Gemini API for keyword extraction and CV rewriting
- Deployed: Vercel
- Time: Built in 3 days
Challenges I faced
- Getting Gemini to output clean, ATS-friendly bullet points without hallucinations
- Making the ATS scoring algorithm feel fair and transparent
- Keeping the entire app client-side so it’s free and requires no login
