Inspiration

Career growth is scattered across resumes, notes, certificates, job portals, learning platforms, and countless bookmarks. We wanted to build a single intelligent workspace where everything related to a person's career could live together. Instead of forcing users to jump between dozens of tools, CareerOS creates one private AI-powered operating system designed to simplify planning, learning, preparing, and growing throughout a person's professional journey.

What it does

CareerOS is an AI-powered private career workspace that centralizes every stage of career development. Users can organize projects, resumes, achievements, documents, opportunities, interview preparation, learning resources, and career goals within one secure platform. AI provides personalized recommendations, intelligent organization, roadmap generation, career insights, and productivity assistance while keeping the user in complete control.

How we built it

We built CareerOS using a modern full-stack architecture powered by Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase, and AI services including OpenAI, Gemini, and Deepgram. The application combines secure authentication, cloud storage, intelligent AI workflows, responsive design, and Progressive Web App support to deliver a fast, reliable, and seamless user experience across desktop and mobile devices.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was designing an experience that could manage many different career workflows without becoming overwhelming. We spent significant time refining navigation, optimizing performance, integrating multiple AI services, improving responsiveness, and ensuring the platform remained intuitive while handling increasingly complex user interactions and data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a polished AI-first productivity platform that feels like a dedicated operating system for career growth rather than a collection of disconnected tools. CareerOS combines intelligent organization, AI assistance, modern design, and scalable architecture into a unified experience that helps users stay focused on long-term success.

What we learned

This project strengthened our understanding of AI product design, full-stack engineering, scalable system architecture, prompt engineering, cloud infrastructure, authentication, database design, and user-centered experience design. More importantly, we learned that AI creates the most value when it enhances human decision-making instead of replacing it.

What's next for CareerOS

Our vision is to evolve CareerOS into a complete AI career operating system with autonomous career agents, resume optimization, portfolio generation, internship discovery, interview simulations, recruiter insights, calendar integration, collaborative workspaces, and deeper personalization. We aim to build a platform that continuously supports users from education through every stage of their professional career.
