Inspiration

Career information in Japan is mostly polished PR. Students and job seekers rarely get to see the downsides before they apply. CareerInsight is a media site that covers companies, job types, and careers honestly, the good and the bad.

What it does

  • 4,400+ company articles: reputation, pay, workload, and how hard it is to get in, all in one consistent format
  • 250+ job-type guides explaining what the work is really like
  • 19 industry hubs and 18 editorial columns that tie companies, jobs, and articles together
  • 17 self-diagnosis quizzes and resume guides

How I built it

  • Next.js (App Router) with static export, MDX for every article, Tailwind CSS for layout
  • About 4,700 MDX articles built into static pages, with a search index generated at build time, no server needed
  • SEO work driven by Google Search Console data: internal linking, thumbnails, and indexing fixes

Challenges

Getting thousands of generated pages indexed. Detected-but-not-indexed pages dropped from 2,522 to 1,202 after restructuring the company hub and internal links.

What's next

Refreshing thumbnails across all company pages and expanding industry hubs.
