Inspiration
Every week, I meet professionals eager to pivot into AI but overwhelmed by technical jargon and endless learning options. They don’t need more noise but they need a guide. CareerFinder.AI was built to become that guide. As a consultant and an AI management graduate student, I’ve seen firsthand how people with rich experience in business, education, or marketing struggle to find their way in AI. This inspired me to create something real like a friendly agent that meets them where they are and shows them the next step.
What it does
CareerFinder.AI is a GPT-powered AI mentor that builds a personalized AI learning roadmap for non-technical professionals — in under 2 minutes. Just chat with the bot, answer a few guided questions (career, coding, goals), and you’ll receive:
- A 3-phase learning roadmap (Beginner → Intermediate → Applied)
- Recommended tools (ChatGPT, Canva AI, Python, Notion AI…)
- Suggested learning formats & project ideas
- A motivational tip to keep you moving It’s like having your own AI coach — warm, helpful, and never condescending. ## How we built it
- Platform: Poe.com
- Core Engine: GPT-4
- Prompt Design: Step-by-step prompt chaining, personalized to user input
- Knowledge Base: Custom info on AI tools, learning paths, quotes
- UX Copy: Natural, encouraging tone designed for first-time AI learners
- Optional stack (for future build): MindStudio, Streamlit, Notion AI ## Challenges we ran into
- Making the bot sound human without overwhelming the user
- Balancing accessibility with true guidance (not just generic advice)
- Designing a clear UX conversation flow within Poe’s limitations
- Writing prompt logic that handles many user profiles, from “I’m in HR” to “I have no time to learn” ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Completed full logic, testing, and launch in 3 days
- Agent link shared with 50+ learners & colleagues and 95% said they felt “encouraged to start learning”
- Created a real, working mentor, not just slides or mockups
- Proud to help people feel less afraid of AI ## What we learned
- Great AI agents are about clarity, tone, and empathy — not just code
- Prompt engineering is a form of product design
- Solving one real pain point > building 10 trendy features
- Encouragement is sometimes the best UX ## What's next for CareerFinder.AI
