Inspiration

Our inspiration for CareerCraft stems from the belief that traditional job titles can limit individuals in their career exploration and growth. We understand that people possess a wide range of transferable skills and interests that may not align with conventional career paths. Our goal is to empower individuals to discover new and exciting opportunities by focusing on their unique skill sets rather than predefined job titles. We aim to provide a personalized and comprehensive career transition experience that uncovers hidden potential, expands horizons, and guides users towards fulfilling and meaningful careers.

What it does

CareerCraft makes recommendations based on job skills rather than job titles, surprises you with job recommendations that you haven’t thought about, analyzes your skill gaps, and recommends a detailed career transition plan with courses to take, people to follow, etc.

How we built it

We deployed a webApp on HuggingFace Space (newly acquired skills from the workshop on Day 1 !), powered by OpenAI GPT 3.5 turbo model API calls.

Challenges we ran into

Latency is a big issue - it takes about 10-20 seconds now for the model to display content after user inputs. While we continue to work on optimizing the system, we have implemented a temporary solution to manage user expectations.

To ensure a seamless user experience, we have set the expectation that CareerCraft is not a live chatbot. Instead, our approach involves delivering personalized coaching results via email. By adopting this method, users can anticipate receiving their coaching recommendations within 2-3 minutes, allowing for a more convenient and efficient interaction.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite not having a strong technical background, our team eagerly embraced the world of no-code/low-code tools. We embarked on an experimental journey, leveraging platforms like Replit, Respell, HuggingFace, and more. Through perseverance and determination, we successfully built an impressive minimum viable product (MVP) that brings our vision to life.
