Inspiration

We saw an opportunity to apply a similar approach to professional connections, where job seekers and companies could “match” with each other based on their interests, values, and goals. Traditional job search platforms often feel impersonal and overwhelming, with long lists of job openings and resumes. We wanted to create something that felt more dynamic, engaging, and human. Our goal was to take the excitement and simplicity of swiping and match-making and apply it to the professional world. With Career Crush, job seekers can quickly find companies that match their career aspirations, while companies can connect with talented individuals more efficiently. By focusing on a more personalized and intuitive experience, we hope to change the way people approach job hunting and recruitment.

What it does

Career Crush is a platform designed to connect job seekers with companies in a way similar to Tinder’s swipe feature. The goal is to help job seekers find companies that align with their values, work culture, and job requirements, while also helping companies find talent that fits their needs. It makes the job search process more engaging, personal, and tailored.

How we built it

We built Career Crush using a modern tech stack: React: for building dynamic user interfaces and efficient rendering. JavaScript: for interactivity and functionality. HTML/CSS: for structure and styling, ensuring that the website is responsive and accessible. Vite: for fast development and bundling of the project. Using this stack allowed us to create a seamless experience where users could easily interact with job profiles and swipe through them. Node js and mongodb for backend

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges we faced was connecting the pages effectively. At times, certain pages weren’t linking properly, causing navigation issues. Debugging routing problems and ensuring proper state management was a key hurdle. It took some time to get everything working seamlessly, but we eventually resolved the issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’ve rolled out a new resume-building feature that lets job seekers create and personalize their resumes directly on the platform. This feature makes the application process faster and more customizable, allowing candidates to present their skills and experience exactly how they want. In addition, we introduced a swipe feature for applying to jobs, enabling users to quickly swipe right to apply or left to pass on a job listing.

What we learned

We improved our problem-solving skills, especially when it came to routing and integrating dynamic content. The biggest lesson was the importance of user-centered design—keeping the experience simple and intuitive.

What's next for Career Crush

The next steps involve adding more advanced features like messaging and notifications, where job seekers and companies can communicate directly on the platform. We also plan to expand the platform by adding more detailed filtering and search options. Our goal is to build a stronger community around Career Crush, making it a go-to platform for job matching.
